Purge Benefits
When a purge is complete, your non conviction information is removed from searchable systems and destroyed. Fingerprints and photographs submitted to the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), including negatives, are recalled to the originating police and destroyed. Occasionally, you are also offered the opportunity to witness the destruction in person. When the purge is complete, Express Pardon obtains for you a written confirmation of their destruction.
Once your records are destroyed from CPIC, the provincial courts and police are notified to close their corresponding files from public access.
After a purge is complete, you will not need to worry about your records turning up in any criminal record checks or other clearances.
Occasionally, when local police are not willing to destroy their local records, Express Pardons can petition to have the classification of the record changed such that it will not be disclosed in a clearance or local record check.
