Purge Process
- Applying for a purge takes only 5 minutes.
- A dedicated purge specialist prepares a strategy to convince the police to destroy your records.
- Express Pardons purges both federal and local police files
Applications with Express Pardons take only 3 to 5 minutes by toll-free phone or online. Our work begins immediately. Express Pardons asks you for some basic information required to begin researching your case and developing a purge strategy.
Express Pardons prepares the required legal documents for your signature and forwards them to your address or email of choice. All of the documents are formulated specifically for your case and only require your signature and date.
Express Pardons immediately assigns your file to one of our purge specialists, who begins the process of reviewing our case history on the police that created your non-conviction record, preparing a strategy to petition for their destruction.
The Express AdvantageTM (4 - 8 months)
- Contacts with virtually every Police and Court office in Canada allow us to accelerate communications and requests required for your file destruction
- Inside knowledge of the thousands of Police internal processes, which we leverage to ensure the highest chance of success.
- Custom database technology which monitors the process of your file and notifies our expert team of any delays or problems with your case for immediate action.
- Free expert consultation with you discusses the options relevant to your personal circumstances and how you can escalate in the event the initial purge is not approved.
You are required to provide a photocopy of two pieces of identification, including one photographic piece. Secondly, you will need to obtain a set of fingerprints for the "purpose of a pardon". We will provide you with guidance and the location and contact info for facilities closest to your location. We require fingerprints in order to complete a certified criminal record search through the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and for submission with your purge petition.
Once we have received the above, Express Pardons builds a petition to the relevant police board(s). Your purge specialist researched the local policies of the originating police, reviewing successful case history, and will create a petition on your behalf. Depending on the police, this may require some supporting documents from you, in which case you will contacted accordingly.
Express Pardons petitions include two components, one to affect the recall and destruction of your Federal Identification file, including fingerprints and photographs, and one to affect the closure of your local police file. Where appropriate, Express Pardons may also make a submission to the Provincial court to have a court record closed to the public.
Express Pardons will forward you an acknowledgement that our petition has been accepted, and then the confirmation that the purge/file destruction has been completed.
